Terms of Use
How the Children's Home Hub works and what you agree to when you use it.
About these terms
These terms explain how the Children's Home Hub (CHH) works and what you can expect when you use it. By using the site, you accept these terms.
CHH is an independent resource for England's children's residential care sector. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ofsted or the Department for Education.
Information and guidance
CHH provides information, guidance, templates and tools to help people open, run and improve children's homes. Our guidance is based on legislation, regulations and official guidance, and we cite our sources.
Our guidance does not replace professional legal advice. Legislation and official guidance remain authoritative. You remain responsible for decisions made within your organisation. If you need legal advice, please consult a qualified professional.
Relationship with Ofsted
CHH is not Ofsted and is not a government service. Our tools do not predict inspection judgements. Completing a tool does not establish compliance with any regulation or standard. Our Ofsted Readiness Checker is a self-evaluation aid to help you reflect on your practice, not an assessment or judgement of your home.
My Hub and tools
My Hub tools store information in your browser's local storage on the device you are using. This data is not transmitted to CHH or our hosting provider unless you choose to create and download a backup file.
You should maintain appropriate organisational records elsewhere. CHH tools are designed to support your thinking and planning, not to serve as the sole record for statutory or case-recording purposes. If a regulatory body requires specific records, you are responsible for maintaining those records in the format it requires.
You can clear all CHH tool data at any time using the "Clear CHH data" function in My Hub. CHH is not responsible for data lost due to browser data clearing, device changes or failure to create backups.
Children's information
Do not enter unnecessary identifiable information about children into CHH tools or forms. Our tools are intended for operational tracking at the home or organisational level. If a tool asks for a name, use a role or reference rather than a child's name where possible.
Consultant Register
The Consultant Register is a transparency tool. Listing on the register is not CHH approval or a recommendation. CHH publishes the checks it has actually completed and clearly distinguishes between information that is declared by the consultant, information where evidence has been checked, and information that has been supported by a reference.
Some information on a consultant profile is declared by the consultant and has not been independently verified by CHH. You should exercise your own professional and commercial judgement when considering whether to appoint a consultant. CHH does not guarantee the quality or outcome of any consultancy work.
Reviews on consultant profiles are submitted by people who say they have used the consultant's services. Reviews are moderated before publication but are the views of the reviewer, not of CHH.
Consultant Register fees
The following fees apply to the Consultant Register:
- Applications and checks: Free. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
- Individual listing: £49 annually, for one named consultant.
- Consultancy organisation listing: £99 annually, including up to three checked named consultants.
- Additional named consultants: £49 each annually beyond the three included.
Each named consultant must submit their own free application, meet the CHH Entry Standard and complete the required checks before appearing on the Register. An organisation listing does not mean that every employee, associate or service offered by the organisation has been checked.
Paying any fee does not guarantee acceptance, change checking standards, affect review moderation, affect concerns, improve search position or affect renewal decisions. There are no featured, premium, sponsored or priority listings. Annual listing periods run for the applicable paid period. Renewal of annual listing fees will be dealt with separately.
Your submissions
When you submit feedback, a review, a concern, an application or evidence, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge. You must not submit information that is false, misleading, defamatory or unlawful.
Reviews and concerns are moderated. CHH may decline to publish, edit or remove submissions that do not meet our standards or that are unlawful. Submitting a false or malicious review or concern may result in the submission being removed and may affect your ability to use the platform in future.
You retain ownership of any content you submit, but you grant CHH a non-exclusive licence to publish it on the platform for the purpose for which it was submitted (for example, displaying a review on a consultant profile).
Intellectual property
CHH materials, including guidance articles, templates and tools, are provided for your professional use. You may download, print and use them within your organisation. You may not republish, sell or redistribute CHH materials commercially without permission.
Legislation, regulations and official guidance referenced on CHH are Crown copyright or government publications and remain subject to their own terms. CHH's commentary, tools and original content are our own work.
Availability
CHH is provided on a reasonable endeavours basis. We may change, update or remove content and features at any time. The service may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues or circumstances beyond our control.
External links
CHH links to external websites such as legislation.gov.uk, Ofsted publications and government guidance. We are not responsible for the content or availability of external websites. Linking to a site does not imply endorsement.
Liability
CHH is provided as an information resource. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from the use of, or reliance on, information or tools provided on this site. You are responsible for how you use the information and tools.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Some wording in this section may require professional legal review before public launch.
